About the Race
KFC Triathlon Club invites you to join the 8th Annual Akagi Forest Trail Race! Starting at the Akagi Rinkan Community Center located in the middle of Mount Akagi (about 800 meters above sea level), you’ll climb to approximately 1,000 meters above sea level before reaching the summit of Mount Ōmine. Take refuge from the heat in the heart of the mountains!
More cross country running than hardcore trail running, runners will enjoy spectacular views of the vast Akagi forest throughout the course. Runners can opt to complete one loop on the course to clock in roughly 17KM, or to run the same course in reverse for a total of about 26KM.
Out here, the summer heat is less brutal – enjoy the refreshing and cool breezes as you race your way to finish the Akagi Forest Trail Race!
Difficulty: 13KM (2 stars/ intermediate), 26KM (4 stars/ advanced)

- 00Days until Race Day
Steps Taken by the Race Organizer

・Entry will be limited to 600 athletes.
・Staff and volunteers will wear face shields and masks
・Hand sanitizer and soap will be provided throughout the race venue.
・Thermal cameras will screen all athletes upon entry to the race venue
・All athletes will be provided with a buff (face covering) upon entering the race venue. Athletes must remain covered at all times at the race venue (including the start/finish area) and the first 300 meters of the course.
・Aid station will only stock bottled drinks (300mL or 500mL). Self-service; one per athlete. Do not litter – dispose of all litter in the appropriate containers or in trash zones.
・Athletes will start in waves of 50 every few minutes; only net time will be used.
・No opening or closing ceremony.
・No awards presentation. Results will be posted online. Awards will be mailed to winners.
・Blank finisher certificates will be available at the finish; athletes may take one home and fill in the blanks on their own.
IMPORTANT
・No deferrals, credits, or refunds will be issued once registration has closed. This applies to incidents in which the race organizers are forced to cancel, postpone, or otherwise delay the event for the safety of athletes, staff, and volunteers. Such incidents include, but are not limited to severe weather, official emergency declarations, natural disasters (including earthquake), pandemic, biochemical or nuclear fallout, and personal circumstances of the participant (including illness, pregnancy, injury or similar catastrophe).
・Athletes are permitted to transfer their entry to another athlete up until 5 days before registration closes. The procedures can be found on the registration link.
・Athletes may request a refund in writing via email, up until the last day of registration. Refunds will be processed online minus ¥2,000 transaction fees and administrative fees.

* tentative
26KM
¥8,000 (¥9,000 incl. Samurai Sports service charge)
13KM
¥7,000 (¥8,000 incl. Samurai Sports service charge)
Why are there two prices?
・If total cost is ¥10,000 or less, you will incur a flat fee service charge of ¥1,000.
・If total cost is ¥10,001 or more, you will incur a service charge amounting to 12% of total cost.
・Why the additional charges? They help us cover the cost of operating the registration platform, translation of athlete guides/event information, labor hours required to answer your event inquiries, etc. Depending on the event, the surcharges help to cover the cost of our physical presence at the event. Keep in mind that most registration platforms add on a surcharge of about 5% of your entry fee. You may as well pay the amount of money you spend for a coffee at Starbucks to enter in English and receive a translated athlete guide 🙂

13KM, 26KM…View course map
26KM: +884m or +2,900 ft
13KM: +442m or +1,450 ft
Please note that the course map and advertised distance may not align perfectly. According to the race organizers, this is due to the fact that the area does not always ping well using GPS or GLONASS. Additionally, the course map calculates distance between several geographical coordinates that do not account for irregularities in the surface of the route nor changes in elevation relative to the idealized surface.
Should you find a discrepancy between the advertised distance and the map, you may reasonably expect to run a maximum of the distance advertised but may also find that the distance actually covered more closely resembles that of the course map provided.
