About the Race
Get away from the skyscrapers and explore the nature side of Tokyo! You’ll be surrounded by beautiful scenery and embraced by dazzling shades of greenery throughout the trail. The 16KM course consists of tough, challenging climbs – it’s no walk in the park but we promise it’ll be worth it.
Ease your achey feet at the foot bath after the race or swing by the “Ume no Yu” day spa located in front of JR Kabe Station for peak post-race relaxation.
・Difficulty: 16km (intermediate)
・Finishers are entitled to a race t-shirt, a race buff, a fill-in-the-blank race certificate, free race photos, and a light lunchbox with a bottle of Coca Cola (500ml). No medals.
・Your failure to prepare and be informed does not constitute an emergency for others. Make sure to read through all of the event information below to understand the race details. Ask questions if you are uncertain.
・Ensure you have lodging and transportation plans figured out BEFORE registering for this race.

- 00Days Until Race Day
Steps Taken by the Race Organizer

・Staff and volunteers will wear face shields and masks
・Hand sanitizer and soap will be provided throughout the race venue.
・Thermal cameras will screen all athletes upon entry to the race venue
・All athletes will be provided with a buff (face covering) upon entering the race venue. Athletes must remain covered at all times at the race venue (including the start/finish area) and the first 300 meters of the course.・Aid stations will only stock bottled drinks (300mL or 500mL). Self-service; one per athlete. Do not litter – dispose of all litter in the appropriate containers or in trash zones.
・No opening or closing ceremony.
・No awards presentation. Results will be posted online. Awards will be mailed to winners.
・Blank finisher certificates will be available at the finish; athletes may take one home and fill in the blanks on their own.
Athletes must agree and abide to the following measures to prevent infection and the spread of COVID-19.
・All athletes are required to take and record their body temperature for the week leading up to race day. You may or may not be asked to submit this record to the race organizer.
・All athletes must wear a mask or face covering at the start/finish area and when walking to and from the race venue.
・All athletes will receive a buff upon entering the race venue. Athletes must wear the given buff or a similar face covering for the first 300 meters of the race; a face covering is otherwise not required on the race course.
IMPORTANT
・No deferrals, credits, or refunds will be issued once registration has closed. This applies to incidents in which the race organizers are forced to cancel, postpone, or otherwise delay the event for the safety of athletes, staff, and volunteers. ¥8,000 (¥9,000 incl. Samurai Sports service charge)
Compared to the previous years, the entry fee for the 2021 Nariki Forest Trail Race has increased. This is in large part due to the costs of additional measures necessary for the event to be held in the post-COVID era, including but not limited to limited athlete capacity, face shields for volunteers, thermal scanning cameras, hand sanitizer, etc.
Why are there two prices?
・If total cost is ¥10,000 or less, you will incur a flat fee service charge of ¥1,000.
・If total cost is ¥10,001 or more, you will incur a service charge amounting to 10% of total cost.
・Why the additional charges? They help us cover the cost of operating the registration platform, translation of athlete guides/event information, labor hours required to answer your event inquiries, etc. Depending on the event, the surcharges help to cover the cost of our physical presence at the event.

Please note that the course map and advertised distance may not align perfectly. According to the race organizers, this is due to the fact that the area does not always ping well using GPS or GLONASS. Additionally, the course map calculates distance between several geographical coordinates that do not account for irregularities in the surface of the route nor changes in elevation relative to the idealized surface.
Should you find a discrepancy between the advertised distance and the map, you may reasonably expect to run a maximum of the distance advertised but may also find that the distance actually covered more closely resembles that of the course map provided.
