Didn't win the ballot for the Tokyo Marathon?
Not ready for a marathon but want to get in the spirit of things?
Just want to mix and mingle with the lucky runners?
Come out to Odaiba and join the Pre-Race Festa festivities hosted by the Tokyo Marathon Foundation! It’s no alternate race but the Friendship Run and Family Run are great family-friendly experiences to get into the spirit of the biggest marathon in Japan!
Both the Tokyo Marathon Friendship Run 2019 and the Tokyo Marathon Family Run 2019 will take place on Saturday, March 2nd, 2019 at Symbol Promenade Park in Odaiba (Google Maps).
Registration is ¥3,000 per event.
Tokyo Marathon Friendship Run
The Friendship Run is an untimed 3.5KM (about 2 miles) fun run meant to extend a welcoming hand of hospitality to runners from abroad and provide chances for cultural exchange. It’s the perfect opportunity to get warmed up for the main event and meet runners from all over the world in a casual setting! Click here to view course map.
Who? All interested; first-come, first-served. You do not have to be running the Tokyo Marathon to register but you must be age 6 or older.
All participants receive a unique Japanese hand towel
Tokyo Marathon Family Run
The Family Run is an untimed fun run for elementary-aged children and their guardian(s). Kids in the 1st to 3rd grades must cover 1.4KM (about 1 mile), while kids in the 4th to 6th grades will challenge themselves to 2KM (about 1.25 miles). It’s a great opportunity to demonstrate healthy living and share the joy of running to our youth!
Who? Up to 1,000 child+guardian pairs (total 2,000 participants). If registrations exceed capacity, a drawing will be conducted.
All pairs receive a finisher towel, finisher certificate, and medal
