access to an active lifestyle in japan

Since 2017, Samurai Sports has offered English support and consulting services in Japan’s sports & tourism industry. Through sports events, fitness activities, and unique cultural insight, we pride ourselves in supporting international residents and visiting tourists explore Japan.

Samurai Sports is based on the idea of breaking down the barriers that often prevent international visitors and foreign residents from taking part in fitness events and races throughout Japan. We collaborate directly with race organizers, local agencies, and institutions to provide a wide range of information that appeal to foreign nationals. From registration to results and recommendations, our services cater to an English-speaking audience eager to participate in Japan’s exciting world of sports and activities.

Our roots are in Hawai’i, where our parent company supports Japanese visitors participating in events and races across the islands, including the Honolulu Marathon, Honolulu Triathlon, Maui Marathon, and more. You can learn more about Sports Navigator Hawaii here.

meet the team

the people behind samurai sports

Our company is supported by a team of sports-minded individuals based in Honolulu and Tokyo.

Eiichi "A-1"

CEO

A-1 is the top dog boss man of Samurai Sports. Though born Eiichi, we call him A-1 because Ei = A and ichi = 1.  Since his college student days at UC San Diego, A-1 has travelled all over the world doing his favorite things like cycling, jogging, fishing, and drinking beer. For more than 20 years, he has called Hawai’i home and has built up Sports Navigator Hawai’i, a leading sports marketing business.

Shigeo

COO

Shigeo the COO of Samurai Sports

As a kid, Shigeo thought he wanted to work for the police department but he has opted to pursue an undeniably more colorful career in the world of sports. He spends his time listening to jazz, or to his two children who seem to be growing up a little too fast.  Shigeo would like to visit the South Pole but he also strongly dislikes cold places.

Faith

Communications Manager

Faith Communications manager of Samurai Sports

Born in Singapore and raised in Malaysia, Faith holds a Japanese passport, a BA from Southern Methodist University, and a M.Ed from Vanderbilt University.  She trains regularly year-round for her triathlon pursuits and hopes to one day qualify for Kona. Faith loves dogs, hates celery, and is always hungry.

Masa

Systems Manager

Masa Systems Manager of Samurai Sports

Based in Hawai’i since June 2016, Masa is our all around tech master.  He boasts years of experience in web design, site management, and programming for various publishing, advertising, and startup firms. We give him lots of problems every day and he fixes them for us – Masa has all of the answers.

Manuel

Marketing Manager

Manuel Marketing Manager of Samurai Sports

Manuel graduated from the University of London and spent several years working in Japan.  Through his experiences he learned that sports creates opportunities for people from different backgrounds to come together as a team to achieve a common goal.

David

Editor

Raised by his Japanese mother and American father, David grew up in Japan with his three siblings in a bilingual household. From an early age, he was exposed to two different cultures but he promised himself that he would explore his American roots upon graduating high school. Eventually, David packed his bags and moved to Hawai’i in order to put his energy into what he really loves – sports. Follow your dreams. Be like David.

John

Office Assistant

Born and raised in Hawaii, John grew up playing many different sports. Through sports, John has found many opportunities and created lifelong friendships. In 2018, he moved to Japan and now spends his days assisting the Tokyo office.
